It's Over for Xmas Deliveries

Hi, being last thing on the Thursday before Christmas it is now extremely unlikely that I will be able to post your orders in time for deliver by Christmas. There is good news though, I will start some special offers very soon which you can take advantage off and feel warm and cosy all over.

Thanks

James.

Christmas Posting

It may still be possible to order socks for delivery in time for Christmas but we are desperately close to the limit right and I have to say that I can not guarantee delivery before Christmas. I think the best thing is to go ahead and order and then send an email to me (james@buyxsocks.com) to tell me you want them for Christmas and it may mean going for a Royal Mail Special Delivery if the socks are available.

Thanks everyone.

James.

November 2008 Free Sock Competition Winner

So each month I give away a free pair of X-Socks to the customer who submits the best product review during that month. 'The Best' review is determined by me and who ever else I ask to read the reviews - there are no criteria, just what I decide at that time to be 'The Best'.

The winner for the October 2008 Free Sock Comp is: Ron Parker and here is his review of the Trekking Extra Warm Socks

I have used Smartwool socks up to now because there weren't any real alternatives until these.
Comfort and fit, like all x socks is superb and the clincher for these socks are the raised sections on the top of the foot and the ankle which allow the sock huge flexibility to bend without rucking up. Look at the socks you use. Put them on and bend your foot. Do you get wrinkles on top of your foot and around your ankle? You don't with these socks. This gives longer term comfort and less rubbing within your boot.
Oh, did I mention that they're pretty warm too?
Congratulations to Ron, I'll email him later today to give him the good news. I chose Ron's review because he hit the nail right on the head when describing one of the advantages of the Trekking Extra Warm Socks over conventional outdoor socks.

Here are a couple of the others:

Sarah Cheetham on the Winter Run Socks

Returning to running after an injury meant that I wanted to do everything I could to ensure i stayed injury free and so of course attention has to be paid to the feet. Whilst suitable trainers are of course essential one should never underestimate the difference a pair of socks makes! Having tried various other well known branded running socks in my so far short running life, my quest continued to find the perfect sock for me and so i turned to x-socks which were slightly more expensive than others on the market. But wow you certainly get what you pay for and they really do do exactly what they say they do. The socks are labeled L and R and so you know that the socks technology is tailored specifically for each foot and from the minute you put them on you will instantly feel the difference compared to other socks. The added cushioning around the ankle gave me extra confidence when running and every run is a blister free and extremely comfortable one!

Jo Hesketh
on the Run Energizer (Compression) Socks

I wore these socks in a half marathon at the weekend & they helped me along to a PB! My legs feel good today, better than I would usually expect after a hard race! Will definately be using them in my training up to the London Marathon 2009!

Well done to everyone that entered, well done to the runners up and well done to Ron.

To everyone else: don't give up now, this is real, get submitting your customer reviews of the products in my shop at www.buyXsocks.com and you will be entered in the December Free Sock Comp - simple as that.

=> You Gotta Be In It To Win It.

Have fun everyone.

November Free Sock Comp - Still TIME!

You've got all day tomorrow 30th November 2008 to have the chance to win some socks...

I give away a pair of new X-Socks every month to the best customer review of
socks in my shop. Last month in the October 2008 competition Ed Hawkins
gave an ace review of the Run Energizer Compression Socks and won himself a
great new pair of Run Sky Run socks (more on that later).

=> Go make a review: www.buyxsocks.com

All Ed did was take two minutes and make a customer review. He was lucky in
that I chose his review to be 'the best' of that month but he gave himself the
chance to win - simple and easy.

How do you make the review?
-------------------------
Simple and easy. You just find the sock on my web site, scroll down to the
Customer Reviews section and click 'Post Your Review'. It should take you about
2 minutes, unless you write a book.

A few days in to next week I'll announce the winner - simple and easy, so at
least give yourself the chance to win some socks and make a customer
review.

Trekking Extra Warm Glowing Review

A previous post mentioned the Trekking Extra Warm socks and that they received an excellent 5 star review from the BBC CountryFile Magazine. The packaging, I think, has baffled the CountryFile reviewer however the sock got excellent marks and the review is well worth a read.

Ed won some socks - do you want some?

Ed Hawkins, the winner of my October Free Sock Comp, is back from his trip to Florida where he did lot's and lot's of hard exercise wearing X-Socks. I'll be able to update you on Ed's trip and his view on how the socks performed for him soon, I just need to give him a rest first.

He hasn't yet chosen his free pair but when that's happened I'll let you know as well.

How did Ed win some socks?

He simply entered a customer review of some socks during October. I chose the winning review in early November. It's that simple. Every month I have a "Customer Product Review Competition" where the prize for the 'best' customer sock review is a brand new pair of X-Socks. All you gotta do is get reviewing, you gotta be in it to win it, as they say.

Honestly, it's no harder than that. Just make a customer review (you could make as many as you like) and you could win a new pair of socks.

The November 2008 competition ends on the last day of the month, so start your reviewing now - Give Yourself the Chance.

Having Fun

Top Marks for the Winter Run Socks

I just received an excellent review in my inbox, it was from a customer who recently purchased the X-Socks Winter Run Socks. Sarah from Cheshire, has some excellent words about the Winter Run socks, in summary she says:

...so i turned to x-socks which were slightly more expensive than others on the market. But wow you certainly get what you pay for and they really do do exactly what they say they do.

CountryFile Magazine gives 5 Star Review

The most recent BBC CountryFile Magazine has reviewed some X-Socks and given a 5/5 top notch review. The magzine reviews a sock called the X-Socks Trekking Mountain Sock, however this is a new name to come in for 2009 and the current sock is actually called the "Trekking Extra Warm".

So "Trekking Extra Warm" is the current name and in 2009 the name changes to "Trekking Mountain" and the actual sock stays the same.

Gorgeously warm socks and while they are not cheap they are not budget socks from a budget shop. These are at the very top end of the spectrum and if you want to enjoy your winter hill walking and worry less about your feet then you need to invest in one decent pair of warm winter hill walking socks and 5 out of 5 from BBC Countryfile Magazine is EXCELLENT.

Prices Increased And There's More Good News

Prices have been increased to the original list price for each sock to allow me to continue to offer free postage to the UK. So you still have the benefit of knowing that the price you see in your basket won't suddenly increase at checkout with some added postal charge.

The other good news is that for most of you this will only have a small effect because the quantity discounts are still in play and I have added two new rewards. So the ways to win are:

Quantity Discounts*
--------------------------------------------------------
  • Order 2, 3 or 4 pairs and get 3% off each pair
  • Order 5, 6 or 7 pairs and get 5% off each pair
  • Order 8, 9 or 10 pairs and get 10% off each pair

*(same model, size & colour)

Basket Total Discounts
--------------------------------------------------------
On top of the Quantity Discounts I have added a bonus at 2 levels, they are:
  • Basket Total of £50 or more gets 5% off
  • Basket Total of £100 or more gets 10% off
You can still take advantage of great deals and my service and you can shop knowing you are supporting a quality independent.

Please just remember that I can now still offer you free postage to the UK and also remember that if you love your X-Socks just tell one friend today about my shop at www.buyxsocks.com

Have Fun Today.

Price Increase

It's either raise the prices or charge for postage and raising the prices will make it easier for you to shop online, charging postage will create an extra charge at the end of your buying process - something that I really want to avoid.

I have to raise prices back to list price so the 10% offer will be over soon. However, the other good news is that I can increase the %age saving you get when you buy multiples of the same sock and I can give you a reduction when you reach £50 and then £100 in one single order which I couldn't do before.

I'll post again once prices are altered.

Thanks

James.

Postage Charges

The cost of offering Free First Class Post to you is beginning to have a major effect, sadly. The current prices of all socks are 10% less than list price and I am left with a dilemma.

1) Leave the prices as they are but charge you a postage fee, average works out to be about £2

2) Increase the prices to list price and continue to offer free post to UK deliveries (preferred, I think)

I am deciding today so sensible comments or emails to james at buyxsocks dot com will be considered.

Thanks for your time.

James.

October 2008 Free Sock Competition Winner

You might know by now that I give away a free pair of X-Socks to the customer who submits the best product review. There no criteria for what constitutes 'The Best', it's just what I consider 'The Best' to be at that time.

The winner for the October 2008 Free Sock Comp is: Edward Hawkins and here is his review of the Run Energizer (Compression) Socks

I've been using these since Ironman UK this in prep for going the Ironman 70.3 World Cahmps in Florida on 8th November this year. At first I used during my longer training runs so I could recover quicker, but after two weeks I've brought another two pairs and I used them durin all my run sessions. I am also now going to use them on the bike and on the run sections in the World Champs! Super I can not speak any higher of them. Well worth the money, Cheers BuyXsocks.com, World Champs here I come!

Well done to Ed, he doesn't know it yet but I'll send him an email sometime tomorrow and I'll send him out a pair socks.

Here are a few of the other reviews:

Peter Boswell on the Army Long Socks

I'm a lorry driver and I wanted some thick socks that didn't make my feet sweat when I was wearing boots. I found Xsocks in a local shop but they only had ski style. I bought a pair to try, they were great. Comfortable, warm, excellent fit and they didn't smell when I took them of. I searched the web to find a supplier of army style and found Oneoutdoors so I ordered some from them. Great service and the socks were excellent - even after wearing the same pair for more than a day they didn't smell. They've been machine washed quite a few times now but still fit perfectly and look like they will last a long time. I'm so pleased with them that I've just ordered 5 more pairs [from the sister site, buyXsocks.com]

Anonymous on the Run Performance Socks

have loads of pairs of these socks and have run a few marathons in the last year or so and have never had any blisters, cuts or sores so they just cant be beat.

John Mc Elhinney on the Airforce 1 Socks

Slowly but surely Airforce 1 X-Socks are supplanting every other sock I have, and with very good reason: a very, cool, comfortable and light sock, yet with protection and support in all the right places, with the result that my feet never feel like they've done a day's work!
Keith Ellis on the Sky Run Socks

Well, I ran my first Half Marathon on the 19th October 2008. I passed my PB of 2.03 minutes with a 1.52. I was of course running in Sky Run Socks. I have just discovered this product being new to running, well one year and god knows how many cotton sports sock later, and look forward to new challenges and finding which X-Socks help the best. I am quite sure Sky Run Socks helped me get through by not having to think about my feet. Well done.

Rachel Prince on the Lady Speed One Socks

Tried a couple of other brands but after reading rave reviews on the RW forum I tried these. They got me round the Great North Run - not a blister in sight! Marvellous!
I just want to say well done to everyone that made an entry, well done to the runners up and well done to Ed.

To everyone else: don't give up now, this is real, get submitting your customer reviews of the products in my shop at www.buyXsocks.com and you will be entered in the November Free Sock Comp - simple as that.

=> You Gotta Be In It To Win It.

Have fun everyone.

Wanna Win a Wicked pair of socks

I am not sure if you are aware of this but every month a customer wins a pair
of socks. I look at the customer reviews for that month and choose a winner, I
ask myself, "Of all these reviews which is the best one?" - nothing more
technical than that, but that's ok because www.buyxsocks.com is my web
site and I set the rules.

There are not many reviews submitted for October and there's already one that
catches my eye so if you want to put yourself in the running to win a pair of the
best sports socks available then you need to submit a customer review now.

Go to www.buyxsocks.com and go to the sock you want to review, scroll
down and hit "POST YOUR REVIEW" it's that simple and your review could grab
you a brand new pair of socks.

You can submit as many reviews as you like each month but really you should
have experience of the sock you are reviewing - and I'll be able to tell.

Reviews in before midnight on Halloween all have a chance, so get reviewing.

www.buyxsocks.com

Have fun and good luck.

Cheers,

We have All X-Socks...

...available to the UK.

Just the other day I came across another specialist online sock shop and they we telling everyone how they stocked the entire range of X-Socks. They have just over 40 X-Socks lines on their list.

This is interesting because www.buyXsocks.com also has the entire range of X-Socks and there are 73 lines available with 14 on hold just now until new stock arrives in the country.

73 minus 14 equals 59

So I have 59 X-Socks Socks on the BXS site right now and that is the entire range of X-Socks available to the UK from the UK Distributor of X-Socks. You can be assured that www.buyXsocks.com will have all the lines all the time while stock is available.

BXS on YouTube

So I've done a couple of videos to help people get round the site. One as a 90 second quick guide to shopping with buyXsocks.com and one video on how to use an Offer Code. There will be more videos, some on the same theme to help you find your way around the site and others perhaps a bit more fun.

Here's our channel on YouTube

Keep on runnin'

if you like it, of course. I mean, there's no point in doing something you really can't stand or that you don't have a really important goal to achieve at the end. So suppose you are running mad or you have an interest in raising money for charity, if so then 5k, 10k, Half Marathons and the Biggies events are happening all over the country (and World, probably).

So next exciting one that I know of is the Sony Ericsson Run To The Beat London Half Marathon which kicks off at the O2 at 09:45 on October 5th 2008. Registration for this event is now closed but if you are one of the 12500 competitors then I want to know about it - let me know if you are, it would be great to hear your story.

It looks like Nokia are part of another event called The London Half Marathon (confused? So am I, only a little though) which starts at 10:00 on October 12th in Hyde Park. This event is actually called the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and registration for this is also closed although you might be able to get in with a charity partner before this friday. Once again, if you are in on this one then let me know, it would be great to hear from you.

It goes without saying that you need to be fully prepared when going these distances. So you training has to be right and you clothing has to be spot on too. Obviously, this being the BXS Blog, I am going to mention SOCKS right now. I won't go in to massive detail about which socks are best for you but I will say that socks are the part of the interface between you and the road - if your socks are poor quality and a poor fit then no matter how good your expensive made to measure running shoes are you will still have a poor experience.

All I am saying is: buy good quality socks to improve your comfort on your runs. There is no point having blisters, excess fabric, wet/damp feet when you can have fresh, dry, protected, blister free socks that can even prevent injuries.

Check out the X-Socks range of Running Socks on www.buyXsocks.com and if you have any questions just send me over an email (available here on the BXS web site)

Stumped for a pressie for someone?

I know what it's like, your rushing around the night before (sometimes even early that morning) to buy a present for your chosen person that is just right for their birthday or something. It's not just me that leaves it until the last minute is it? Come on, be honest with yourselves, we're all the same - aren't we?

So anyway, your struggling to buy them a present and you are really tight for time. Well BXS is at your service and can come to your rescue, at any time of day or night. What do you know about the person you're buying for? Do they:
  • like sport
  • like chilling out
  • like quality clothing items
  • like long haul flights (yes, we do an Air Travel model that can help prevent DVT)
  • like good presents from you
Now, X-Socks fit the bill here completely but remember that your tight for time and with delivery times there is no chance that the socks will arrive in time for the big day (especially if you're shopping on the same day!). So here's the answer:

A GIFT CERTIFICATE

Easy as that, you go online to the BXS web site and buy your guy or girl a Gift Certificate to use on www.buyXsocks.com. Simple as that, Easy as 1-2-3. You buy a gift certificate of any value you like and they will get an email with that certificate enclosed, they can then go online and shop on BXS and spend the certificate how they want to.

For Women's Eyes Only

Ok Girls, don't get toooooooo excited there aren't any Brad Pitt (or, insert your desired famous man's name) photos  on the site but I have managed to squeeze a page in just for the Girls.

The page is called X-Socks For Women and it shows you all the Women's Specific X-Socks. These socks are different from the men's equivalent in a few ways and if you have the option of a women's specific sock for your sport then it is likely that you'll find these socks to be a great fit for you.

Check out the X-Socks For Women.

User Video for BXS shopping

So this is just a very quick post to say that I added a simple walkthrough, less than 90 seconds, on how to buy something on www.buyXsocks.com

The vid is currently on YouTube, search for buyxsocks or you could go straight there the vid will also be on lots of other video sites and on the BXS help page too.

More easy vids coming soon

Cotton Socks Fail the Blister Test

I just found an article on About.com telling us how bad cotton socks are for us when we exercise, they retain moisture and slip creating friction which will give you blisters. The article says, "We found that 100 percent cotton socks were usually the worst especially when a person started to sweat" and it goes on to recommend "different compositions of materials in different parts of the sock" as the perfect type of sock for sport.

This is X-Socks all over. X-Socks use different material compositions and different material weaves throughout the socks to reduce the potential for blisters and greatly increase your comfort.

If you wear cotton socks for exercise then you should stop now - treat yourself to some X-Socks from www.buyXsocks.com, make use of the introductory offer of 10% price reduction and grab a further discount by joining the newsletter.

New Customer reviews of socks

I just logged in and saw a few socks reviews from customers. These two people are also OneOutdoors.co.uk customers and had bought some pairs during last year but looks like they decided to review on the BXS site - which is cool.

X-Socks Womens Trekking Expedition Socks: "Extremely comfortable" - 5 Stars

X-Socks Ski Adrenaline Silver Socks: "Just what I needed" - 4 Stars

Sky Run Socks Get Big Thumbs Up - June 2008

Another review from a magazine: 220Triathalon reviewed the Sky Run socks and with a score of 9 out of 10 they were the top of the pile. This is an ace review which should see X-Socks soaring to the top of your shopping list. Here's the review:

"It's easy to see why X-Socks are becoming more popular. The left and right specific socks have padding at the forefoot, at the heel and across the toes, which of course all adds up to extra comfort, but the pads are not so thick as to hamper the fit of your shoes."

4 out of 5 for Biking Ultralight

July 2008 saw bikeradar.com give the X-Socks Biking Ultralight 4 out of 5 stars saying "it's amazing how much technology Teutonic clothing meister X-Bionic can squeeze into a humble sock" - read the full review on bikerader.com

Popular or what!

This weeks most popular sock, so far, is the X-Sock Airforce 1. Many customers have some super parcels arriving today and tomorrow containing a whole bunch of Airforce 1's, some customers are buying 8 pairs at a time.

The Airforce 1 is popular not just because it has a cool name ;o) but also because it offers excellent comfort, durability and performance. Customer reviews on OneOutdoors have been excellent and also magazine reviews are very good too. For example, Country Walking magazine review this sock last year, April 2007 and marked it 17/20...

Country Walking Review of the Airforce 1 - April 2007
Lightweight mens socks in their April
issue. Tester Tom Hutton has the following verdict to make on X-Socks Air
Force One and awarded them 17/20.
Verdict: Technical looking socks that are
cool to walk in and deal with moisture well.

Pretty cool huh - check the Airforce 1 socks

Preventing Blisters - oooh

So, I just came across an article on eHow called "How to Treat and Prevent Blisters Caused by Running" - the eHow regulars have given the article 4 stars out of 5 and it gives you a list of 6 products and 'treatments' for blisters.

Let me tell you that I hope you don't have to go past tip number 2. Tip number 1 is telling you to buy some decent running shoes and then, guess what, tip number 2 tells you to invest in a decent pair of running socks. The image use is, of course, an X-Sock (model: Run Speed One).

The writer of the article is quite right in saying that a decent pair of socks will wick moisture away from your feet and therefore reducing blisters. He says "stay away from cotton socks", I agree totally.

Let's hope you really don't have to get down to tip 6.

Have fun and check out all the X-Socks Running Socks on buyXsocks.com
