Download all eBooks for a limited time

I have been made aware that the delivery of the free eBooks to customers after they have ordered has not been completely reliable.

Until I implement a more reliable system for the delivery of the single eBook that customers can choose at checkout time I have made every eBook available for free in your Account Home Page.

This means that you can log in to Account Home on buyXsocks.com and collect the eBook that you had chosen originally, and of course you can collect the other eBooks too.

=> Go to your account page
=> http://www.buyxsocks.com/customer?xCmd=account

I can only keep this system going until I implement the new method, so it might be an idea to download the other eBooks before the new system comes in.

As usual if you have any questions please let me know.

Have Fun.

James.

I win

The May 2009 Review Writing Competition was won by me. You see, no one wrote a review during May so I can't give away a free pair of X-Socks. That's a shame really because all winning review writers so far have been extremely pleased that they have won and very grateful for a brand new free pair of X-Socks.

If you didn't know about the competition it's quite simple. You write a review about some socks on www.buyXsocks.com and at the end of each month I read the reviews for that month and award the 'best' review a free pair of X-Socks. You've got to be in it to win it so go to www.buyXsocks.com and get a review written during June and give yourself the chance to be a winner.

Have Fun.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes..and save more

Not to worry, it's all good. I have just modified the 'colour & size' drop down boxes for all socks where there is a colour choice. The drop down box on any given product page now give you the choice of 'Any Colour'.

Why? Well, I'd get orders in and notice from our own stock we have to order some more in and you guys would have to wait for the socks to arrive. Now, with this new 'any colour' option it is more likely that I'd be able to post out your socks sooner - so if you're really not that concerned about the colour of your sports socks then please choose the 'Any Colour' option when choosing your size and colour.

There are actually two advantages for you:
  1. You could receive your order quicker because I could fulfill orders with different colours
  2. You actually benefit from the quantity discounts on each sock. Previously, to get the quantity discounts when buying multiple pairs of the same model of sock in the same size you had to choose the same colour. Now you can get the benefit by choosing the Any Colour option.
Have fun

(of course, there is the chance you could receive different colours or all the same colour - it just depends on what is available)

Cheers,

James.

Too Risky? Let me hear you now!

Today I added a completely open forum for you to either comment on existing questions or ask me question about anything you like to do with the web site, the shop, the service.

The forum is run by UserVoice and opens as an overlay on the main web site. You can activate it by click the 'Feedback' tab on the left hand side of the page. Here is an image of what the tab looks like:

You just click the tab and take part - I hope this will lend itself to open comments about my site and service. Some would say this is too risky for business but I am creating an honest group of shops where your views are extremely important, and I want to hear them - you have the opportunity now so please make use of it.

Winner Of the April Free Sock Competition

I have just announced the winner of my monthly competition. This month the winner of the Free Sock Competition is Ian Greaves. Ian bought some socks from us in October 2008 and has used them during his introduction to running, being a beginner he purchased the Run Discovery socks which were a perfect choice.

A perfect choice because being a beginner to the activity it makes sense to be careful with what your spending and also the feature set of the Discovery range is perfect for the level of activity that a beginner might be experiencing.

Here is an excerpt from Ian's review:
These babies were the cheapest addition to my running wardrobe but they are by far the piece of kit I would not be without
Read the rest of Ian's review on the X-Socks Run Discovery Socks page here just scroll to the bottom where the Customer Reviews are.

Ian has plans on running greater distances and as such might be looking for some X-Socks higher up the range to cope with the greater demands the feet deal with when on longer distances.

Well done Ian and your free pair will be on their way soon.

Price Increase and Bigger Quanity Discounts Again

Good news and Bad news gang.

Bad news first: I have had to raise prices across the board for all X-Socks. This is for two reasons. Firstly, because the UK Distributor has increased prices and secondly because Royal Mail has increased prices too. So, it was a choice of charging postage or increasing prices - at least this way you don't get any surprises when you get to the checkout (UK customers get free postage).

Good news next: I have increased the discount when buying multiple pairs of the same model / size / colour. Your quantity discounts are now:

Qty Discount
----------------
2 - 4 6.00%
5 - 7 10.00%
8 - 12 12.00%

Also, of course, I have retained the extra discounts when your order totals more than £50 and more than £100:

>£50 and you get another 5% discount
>£100 and you get another 10% discount

All in all "It's All Good" as they say.

Have Fun.

The Desert Foxes on the MDS

Congratulations to Felicity Aston, Jo Vellino, Jenny Pugh and Alexandra Aston who all were on the Marathon De Sables just the other week. I haven't yet had a chance to chat to them to get all the ins and outs but suffice to say they all did very well indeed on what has become to be known as the toughest footrace in the world.

I have got some photos here set up in a Flickr Set: enjoy -

More to come on this one.

April Sock Review Competition

Later today people, I will be announcing the winner of the April 2009 Sock Review Competition winner. As you probably know by now, each month I read the reviews submitted that month and choose the best one and give that person a free pair of X-Socks - pretty cool. Stay tuned for the announcement.

If you're gonna do it, do it right, now...

So, I've had a lot of phone calls (office number is: 020 8123 2781) and a lot of emails and tweets (@buyXsocks) asking about how to wash and wear your wonderful X-Socks. At first I thought, "How to wear socks?" then it dawned on me that most customers haven't been trained in the ancient art of Sock Donning.

As an X-Socks retailer of course I have been trained in how to wear and wash these fantastic foot coverings and while at first it might seem simple it is seriously really important to pop them on correctly to get the most out of your training. And as the actual training is the most important thing let's make sure we can do all we can to enhance it.

Please download my (new smaller in size) guides to wearing and washing your X-Socks:

=> How to wear your X-Socks (600kb PDF, it's only small)
=> Here's the short URL too: http://ow.ly/3xmg

=> How to wash your X-Socks (120kb, again very small)

So there you go, if you've any questions please just let me know using any contact method possible:

March sock winner chooses awesome prize

I just got word back from my March 2009 winner of the sock review competition and he has requested an awesome pair of socks as his prize. He is a runner and has chosen the fabulous Evo Run Socks (Run Evolution).

The Evo Run Socks are an awesome pair of dual layer socks. The dual layer is a method of reducing friction on your feet.

I am looking forward to hearing Garry's comments once he has had a chance to use the Evo Run Socks.

Socks: Evo Run X-Socks

March Free Sock Competition Winner

Hello All,

I have some good news today, and that's makes me happy but one of my readers will also be happy today because they are the winner of the March 2009 Free Sock Competition.

I received a good bunch of reviews during March and I appreciate every one of them. I shall keep you no longer, the winner for March is:

Garry Hill for his 5 Star review of the Run Performance socks. Here it is:

I always used Nike socks for running but within a month they always wore out (got holes etc). So tired of paying good money for a bad product I tried XSOCKS. I bought a pair of Run Performance which was the best decision I could have made. These socks are better than any other I have bought previously...FACT. Run Performance are a comfortable, practical and hard wearing sock that I would recommend to any runner.
Garry has just been notified by email so I will update you on what pair he chooses as his free pair of X-Socks.

Making reviews is easy and you get the chance to win a free pair of socks, simple - learn how to make reviews and enter the April competition right now by reading my Make Reviews To Win Free Socks page

The Desert Foxes

I am happy to say that The Desert Foxes are back from the Marathon De Sable and all went well. The socks I provided certainly helped their feet stay relatively healthy during the week long foot race in the Sahara.

I hope to have an interview with the Foxes soon focussed on performing in such harsh conditions.

If you're interested the socks they used were the:

Run Energizer
Run Performance

Best £7.50 spent, ever!

I love this review, not just because it big's up X-Socks but more because the X-Path to enlightenment works. This guy spends £7.50 on some running socks from the 'discovery' range (in case you don't know, the X-Socks Discovery range is lower in price, the socks have a reduced feature set and are aimed at people either new to their sport or new to X-Socks). You could probably get 3 pairs of running socks in budget shops for £7.50, but they're not going to be any good at all for your feet and you'll most likely suffer from damp, clammy, blistered feet that you rather pretend you never had.

It get's better: The £7.50 has helped this customer realise that X-Socks really are the best socks in the world and that there are a whole range of wonder items to keep his feet feeling fresh and energized during and after sport.

Here's the review:

Best £7.50 I ever Spent!
As a complete beginner to running I was advised to get some proper running gear to help prevent injury. Wearing the correct running shoes and compression gear certainly helps but the difference these socks make is amazing. No More Hot rubbing feet 2 miles in to a five mile run! They provide cushioning where you need it while being remarkably thin. At £7.50 These babies were the cheapest addition to my running wardrobe but they are by far the piece of kit I would not be without. As I progress into greater distances, I will be giving the run performance or the EVO Run socks a try.
socks: X-Socks Run Discovery; X-Socks Run Performance; X-Socks Run Evolution
Don't get sucked in to thinking that you don't need to invest in decent socks because you can get cheap ones and you can own lots of them. Much better for your enjoyment of your chosen activity to get socks you will enjoy wearing and that will look after your feet.

Comments welcome.

Great Review for the Army Longs

Hey, the X-Socks Army Long Socks just got a great review from a customer and it just proves once again that X-Socks socks are winning people over left, right and centre.

Here's the review:
Been wearing a variety of X-socks for a few years -
this is my first long pair. And they are long - almost right up to the knee! I
got these for wearing with high-leg boots and they are great for that. Having
now worn them I might also wear them in winter for hillwalking too. Overall very
good as expected - not too bulky and padded in all the right areas. If it's a
long sock you're after you won't go far wrong with these!

Go check out the Army Long Socks right now.

250km in X-Socks

There's only 31 days to go before several customers of buyXsocks.com will be crossing the Atacama Desert in Chile. This grueling 7 day endurance foot race is held at least one mile above sea level and covers 250km and, for sure, have you got to be fit and extremely motivated to take part.

One such motivate person to do the Atacama Crossing is buyXsocks.com customer Simon Wade. Simon is an old hand to these events, he has previously completed the Jungle Marathon in 2006 (he wore X-Socks for that too) and has decided to do the Atacama Crossing for charity.

Simon is running for an extremely important cause, Type 1 Diabetes, which means a great deal for him and he has been training for over a year for this event.

Running Socks for the Atacama Crossing
Simon used theX-Socks Run Performance Running Socksfor the Jungle Marathon and has chose the same socks for his Atacama Crossing. He will be taking 3 pairs with him to last for the week. The Run Performance Socks are light, well padded in all the right places and the design ensures the feet are constantly supplied with fresh air and an ideal temperature is maintained which all reduces the possibility of blisters to almost nothing.

Price Increase and Bigger Quanity Discounts

Hi Everyone,

So as of January 1st 2009 X-Socks themselves put the prices up on almost all their products and I have to increase too. There isn't much increase in percentage terms but it is enough for me to offer you greater quantity discounts:

You now get these discounts when buying the same size and colour of a sock:

2 - 4 pairs you get 5% discount (extra 2%)
5 - 7 pairs you get 8% discount (extra 3 %)
8 - 12 pairs you get 12% discount (extra 2%)

While I am sorry to have to increase the prices for 1 pair I am happy to offer you greater quantity discounts.

There will also shortly be some new sock models arriving - so stay tuned for those.

Have Fun.

How do people use their X-Socks

I know of 2 customers that are doing the most awesome Atacama Crossing in Chile this year - this is a week long 250km crossing of the desert - hats off to anyone doing this. I have more on this story coming soon and I will link to the charities that both customers are racing for.

If anyone else is taking part in this challenge please let me know.

Cheers,

James.

Price Increase Soon

But it's not all bad news...

X-Socks have increased their prices which means that I have to increase the prices on the shop as well - but it won't be much.

THE GOOD NEWS
I will increase the %age saving when you purchase more than 1 pair of socks (same size, same colour), so you can still save a tidy sum. Also I will increase the %age saving when you spend over £50 and £100

Cheers,

James.

No One Wants Free Socks

This seems to be true. There were no customer reviews at all during December 2008 so I guess I get to keep a pair of socks and someone out there, which could be you, doesn't have a free lovely pair of X-Socks on their feet.

Getting a free pair of socks is simple, just make a review online for one of the products on this site and you could win a pair of X-Socks. What's certain is if you don't review you will not win any socks.

Gotta be in it to win it. Get Reviewing now on buyXsocks.com
